This is a relief sculpture of earths moon. It is made out of layers of stacked newspapers. The background is painted on but there are a few tinfoil details sticking out. This is made with a ton of texture and shape. The newspaper waved itself at the bottom, this creates a more bumpy texture. The tinfoil is molded like it was just dropped on the background in small little spaces. As I was making this I was thinking of the night sky. I was also thinking about space and just a very reflective background. I thought it would be cool if the moon was all newspaper stacked but it doesn't look as cool as I had imagined. I don't necessarily dislike my in the round sculpture but I also don't like it that much either. I do not really know what the plan was for this but it took way longer than anticipated to complete. I stacked about 100 papers then looked at it and it was still the thickness of a penny. If I could do this again I would not go with the same idea.
